The Kansas Bluegrass Association,
or KBA, is a non-profit organization for the promotion of bluegrass
music in Central Kansas.
There are many fun events held throughout the year, primarily
involving membership bluegrass jams for the learning, promotion, and
preservation of Bluegrass
music. (See "Upcoming events" page for details.) There are
also many members who do not play instruments, but belong to the
organization due to their enthusiasm and love for Bluegrass music.
There is a newsletter published each month and mailed to all members,
with news about KBA events, regional Bluegrass events, Bluegrass
artists, members, etc.
The KBA organizes an annual Bluegrass festival the third weekend in
February, (See "Upcoming events" page for details) starting Friday
evening and continuing all day Saturday. There are stage shows
Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. There
are instrument workshops held Saturday morning, and a Junior Showcase on
Saturday where the younger pickers can try their hand at stage
performance.
There is a general membership meeting held each April at the first
weekend outing of the year.
Voting for the board of directors is held through mail-in ballots
included in the January issue of the newsletter each year. Newly
elected board members and officers take their positions after the
February Festival.
